What I meant is, Cap is (almost) always right, so lots of people sided with him, because they automatically assumed it must have been the right side, without actually thinking about it. Hank and Carol went with Tony because they knew what being out of control felt like, and Reed... well, I think mostly because of his equations.
That said, I think most of the methods Tony chose were wrong, and I don't know whether to blame that on poor writing or on Tony (or on both). Let's face it, depending on which book you read, the SHRA was treated as either very good or very bad. Some coherence next time Marvel writers, please.
(And of course, the problem with Tony and Cap has always been that they still haven't learned that a little communication goes a long way).
