I think what you need to do is make more of an effort to understand why they feel that way and what they're reacting to. If you think they come up with these ideas themselves or that they're not part and parcel of patriarchy, well...
This is really a pretty natural response to the culture we're in. Point it out to them, give them another way to cope, work at being an ally and maybe they'll stop feeling so shitty about themselves (and all women).
