I think it does have a lot to do with people not knowing him...but a lot of the people who DO know him don't like him very much. At least from my experience. I don't dislike him (I think he can be annoying at times, but overall I think I'm neutral-verging-on-like. Although I love watching him on QI.), but I've met a lot of people who do. Including my dad. And virtually everyone who comments on YouTube, but I've been uploading videos for so long that I've learned to accept the fact that the average YT commenter has an IQ smaller than my shoe size.

FWIW, John's Annoying Or Not thread on WTATA (hardly a scientific source, but hey, you take what you can get) currently has 40 "annoying" votes, 39 "not annoying" votes, and 25 "I wish I knew as much about literature as John Sessions" votes. I think I voted for the last option...

Ah, okay. I don't go over to WTATA much. All I know is that I haven't seen that much of John Sessions. From what I have seen, I think he's funny...but a lot of times his accent is too thick for me to understand what he's saying.
