Um I think the point is the dislike of them is based on the fact that they are female. This isn't really about dislike of individual characters but in general, but rather the scorn that is being heaped on female characters for the sole reason of being female.

Although I said woman instead of relationships, that's rather what my last bit was talking about.

Yeah, that's the people it should only be aimed at, but it rarely is. It generally gets thrown out whenever someone dislike any female (At least in my fandoms), and saying "But I like the other...23 females around" generally get something like "We'll of COURSE you only like the ones that are kick ass because they're the only ones OK to like." (Or something like that. That was just a secret I remember her pretty verbatim)
