putting up a front to be accepted by a male-dominated society.

from what she said in her previous post about how the women who act that way piss her off, that is not what i'd expect to be accepted by a male-dominated society. Quite the opposite.

You're saying you don't think men don't get some subconscious satisfaction from the idea that his girlfriend has no real connection or loyalty to other women, thereby making her more dependent on him?

I think it's kind of sexist and insulting that you're suggesting "fitting into a male-dominated society" as the first reason women would be bitchy. We're not just out there being "women"-- please, we've got our own personalities and issues and everything. Our lives do not consist solely of being oppressed by the patriarchy and dealing with "men" as a group.

It's possible a bitchy girl's that way because she wants to be accepted by men, but she could be putting up a front because of personal reasons, or her personality really just is that way, or you caught her on a bad day and most of the time she's nice. Or you're acting cold towards other women and she picked up on that and didn't see a reason to be warm to you back.

Personally, I think everyone wants to be the most/only important person to their significant other at least sometimes. But just because a girl has no real connection or loyalty toward other people of her gender? Does NOT mean that she's completely dependent on her boyfriend. Male friends are friends, too, and they're just as capable of being loyal as female friends are. The girl who posted this comment should probably recognize the possibility for other women to be good friends, but don't minimize female/male friendships... isn't everyone complaining about fandom doing just that?

I agree. I do have a very few dear female friends. I also have a few very dear male friends. I treat them the same.

I'm just saying, since we've got so many people responding to this secret saying "But women are bitchy!", there's a chance this a sociological phenomenon, and not just the women you know.

But it usually IS women. :/

Re: 103

That. Is. My. Point. If women are "usually" the bitchy ones, perhaps there's something about our society that makes it so.

I get where you're sayin there's a pattern, and I aree that aggression is more culturally valued in males than in females, and that we should have a more even standard for badass versus bitchy- if he's so cool for being a jerkass all the time, she shouldn't get looked down on for standing up for herself.

But that doesn't make it the fault of men in general that women in general are more aggressive than our culture deems attractive. I mean, you can probably get away with blaming the cultural standard on the men, but not the bitchiness itself.
