But people might be a little more unforgiving of scientific inaccuracies because they are more likely to do real harm. Because if someone has no real grounding in something, they might remember that inaccuracy and apply it - especially concerning is medical and emergency/disaster information. Not all scientific inaccuracies, of course, but enough.
