I have to say, I don't notice a lot of people taking the scientific validity of shows very seriously either. Maybe it's just in my social sphere but whenever it's in my wheelhouse and I complain, I get a lot of hand-waving and 'Yeah, but this is a tv show!'

I personally love Ryuji and Morgana and like the conflict that they had. I do not like Akechi, except for totally unhinged Akechi, mostly because he becomes so over the top that it's funny.

...Is this a well known concept? I don't think I've ever heard of it being used as a rule in something.

It really depends on the type of media it is, for both of them. If the media is actually trying to be historically or scientifically accurate, then I'll judge it more harshly. Whereas if it is scifi/fantasy/horror kinds of things, I'm going to give it a lot more leeway unless the author is explicitly saying their stuff is accurate and especially if they criticize the lack of realism in other genre stuff but their stuff is pretty innacurate too.

People like Morgana? I haven't dabbled in p5 fandom in a long time but I thought the general consensus was Morgana was annoying and everyone was relieved when he threw a hissy fit and left the party.

Deep Space Nine explored this a bit and made it seem like that sort of thing is more common. But I think there is a difference between holo stuff of celebrities and holo stuff of your crewmates/people you personally know. That just feels more skeevy to me.
