It's when a female character is killed just for the effect her death will have on the male character, like by bringing angst or purpose. That's called "fridging." (Named after a particularly memorable example of it where a character came home and found his girlfriend murdered and stuffed in the refrigerator.)

of course not. because if it's done that way there is ONLY ONE POSSIBLE INTERPRETATION AND ONLY ONE REASON WHY A WRITER DOES IT.

no variation, no interpretations, no creativity. certainly, we the fans all know MUCH BETTER THAN THE CREATOR what their intentions were.
