104. Okay, did I miss the memo where we were supposed to root for the Dollhouse? I'm pretty sure we're supposed to think they're despicable and skeevy and horrifying and evil, and root for Echo. I don't get all this hate for the premise being skeevy, we're surely not supposed to think they're the good guys...

Also, the heightened fanservice was due to FOX pressuring Whedon to make the show "sexier" to pull in more ratings.

That's... not really a good excuse though.

I mean, I can't judge Whedon or Dollhouse because I haven't seen the show, but if it is exploiting female characters by focusing on their bodies, network pressure is not a free ticket to no responsibility-ville.

This. Showing something happening is NOT the same as agreeing with it. If that were true, there would be no murder, rape, or crime on TV. I can see how Dr. Horrible can be seen as anti-feminist (although I don't see it that way), but I don't think Joss is a bad feminist for making Dollhouse.

People seem to be really missing the point there, unless I am. I really didn't think when watching it that we were supposed to be all supportive of the Dollhouse, like Joss is saying 'yay lets use women as objects'. I was more thinking 'ooh evil guys!'.

I'm glad to see someone else say this too, because I was feeling kind of alone!
