104. Dollhouse I can see. But Dr. Horrible? Why? Because Penny died? Oh, please. As if killing any female character means you are chauvinist. Meanwhile, the male characters can go through hell and back and that's okay.

It's not so much killing female characters, which is fine, but the way in which people do it: killing off the female character not because of her own actions or as a natural end to her storyline, but purely to give the male characters angst. Women in Refrigerators (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WomenInRefrigerators) is the usual term. The fact that it's comic book-originated (and Dr Horrible is built on comic book tropes) and fairly well-known in feminist circles means that Whedon's either aware of it or living under a rock. Whether Penny fits the definition is variable mileage, of course.
