Being polite about it doesn't actually work though. I can't stand being hugged, I've tried the explanation route, I've tried being nice about it, it never worked, so now I'm a cold, blunt asshole because that's the only way people will respect my wishes and actually listen to me.

Trust me, I'd be nice about it if that actually fucking worked, but it doesn't.
