It isn't rude to say no to a hug, but the secret isn't saying it is?? Where are people getting this?

What's rude is saying no to a hug in a totally abrupt, unempathetic way. And doing it in front of a million people, no less. That's honestly beyond rude. It's cruel.

I've experienced way too many "I'm going to hug you anyway" and forced hugs following my politely saying no thanks. People who don't like being touched get forced to interact that way so many times that they just get fed up and are sometimes abrupt in order to get their point across and in order to forestall the person forcing the hug anyway.
