100% agreed. If they wanted to redeem her, they needed to go a bit further than "I know hundreds of people died and/or lost their will/reason to live and only continue to exists as empty shells but guys, she was SAD about her sister and oh hey, she's not actually sorry but she likes SWEETS so all is cool, right?". Or write her story differently from the start.

I refused to pull for her because just the thought of having her and Kazuha on the same team made me cringe. I have also so far refused to play her story quest.
I also was kinda annoyed at how condescending everyone (especially Yae) acted towards the Traveler in this whole mess.

...But the entire point was she thought she was sparing them the pain of things. She linked ambition directly with whatever she saw at what is likely to be Khaenri'ah, and given the imagery the Unknown God is involved and it seems to relate to Visions directly.

People losing their Visions is one thing, people actually getting murdered/dying in the resulting civil war because of her actions is something else. A well-meaning extremist and dictator simply needs better writing to be sympathetic in my eyes.

I guess I'm just of the feeling that, "Watching an entire country get razed to the ground in a single night does things to a person"

I think I'd have liked it addressed more bluntly that it was potentially Visions (or even a proto-Delusion) that caused this, because while it's the impression I got, they never plainly say it. It would have connected her logic a lot better ('people will live longer, happier lives without Visions and we run less of a risk with them not existing'), but they seem determined to keep Khaenri'ah too much of a mystery to even say that much.
