Yeah. The lack of centralized fan communities has really caused the quality of fanfic to tank. Everyone is screaming into the void as an individual, and there is no way to bounce ideas off each other and develop fic that way no more. It is everyone's first draft as the final one right now. Plus there is no real big fandoms producing a lot of lore to develop into fics right now. It is a very fragmented fanworld.

Makes sense. Downloaded fics (and Bookmarks) are recs from Old You to New You. And Old You and New You share a lot of tastes.

There’s a browser tool that removes fic you’ve already clicked on or kudosed so you don’t have to keep track.

From the AO3 FAQ: Min's AO3: Kudosed and seen history userscript allows you to easily determine whether you have already accessed, left kudos, and/or bookmarked a work on any work listing. Sometimes I find AO3 overwhelming (other times I wish there was more for whatever I'm looking for). I just end up downloading fic to read because I'm not going to remember wtf story I just bookmarked in my browser just my seeing the title.

The master rec lists that I too enjoyed back in the day is one of the reasons I kinda want to make a blog with ALL the fics I've liked and would gladly rec to others (or just have available, in case I can't remember). This issue would be

1. That's super time consuming. I have at least 600 favorited focus (across different fandoms).
2. I'm wary of someone finding my identity and linking me to some filthy PWP

But otherwise, I really like what anon above wrote about downloaded fics is old you reccing fics to new you :) that's what that blog would be:)

I guess it is kind of sweet. Stephen basically wants to re-write the world for Bloom. But it really doesn’t end well for him.

Though, Spit Take Theater was kind of funny and I liked Simon Helberg (as Alex Dwyer) doing his Nic Cage impression, even if Sorkin didn't seem to know what to do with it.

But, yeah, I still kind of love it, even though it is sometimes pretentious and smug and the sketches are even more hit-or-miss than the ones for SNL (which I find very hit-or-miss).

I absolutely, unabashedly, adore this show. I loved it then and I love it now.

The cast was SO GOOD and it's almost worth watching the show just to hear them say snappy lines

I'm trying to find info on teen fashion in 1998 for a fanfic I'm writing, New England if location matters, but after doing battle with the hell that is pinterest I drawing a blank. So, FS, can you help me out with what late teen girls were wearing in ordinary day-to-day life in '98? Not high fashion, just ordinary fashions and clothing choices. The original property I'm ficcing was notorious even in its day for having its leads dress in stuff that was really not representative of teen fashions, so I'm wanting to be a bit more fashion accurate.
