This. At most, sometimes I might joke and say something like, "*Dumps bucket of cold water on self*".

But yeah, I'd personally feel really weird getting THAT personal with a writer, and it'd be a bit jarring to receive a comment like that in turn.

That said, I do agree with the posters who say that if the reader and author know each other well enough to where they'd feel comfortable making those kinds of comments to each other, I mean, that's their call, whatever works for them.
