152. I like first generation, but, holy crap, first/second gen is so overrated just because they came first. Gameplay wise, they sucked due to being incredibly imbalanced. Third and fourth gen helped even the playing field a lot and added great things to the franchise.

Finally, someone else who isn't just completely biased to 1st and 2nd Gen. I mean, they rocked my socks, but I love 3rd and 4th so much more.

Too many people forget what Third and Fourth gen added. Abilities, better hold item, new fun moves, contests...they just focus too much on the new Pokemon and not on what else the new games have to offer. Though I admit I like third gen contests more than fourth gen, and fourth gen has too many legendaries, preevolutions, and new evolutions. :|

I have to say, I think I may be the only person who's not that fond of Johto. I realize that it had a lot of things that have shaped the gameplay (berries, genders, and breeding are the first that come to mind) but I don't really have any memorable moments/Pokemon from it. Plus, I'm still a little bitter about the Kanto nuking.

But yes~! Much love to the later gens.

Agreed so much about 152! Gosh, my friend is one of the most annoying elitists when it comes to Pokemon - in her mind, the first and second gen are THE BEST and if you've never played them/don't worship them the most, you're not a true fan and not worth talking to, basically.
Yeah, first and second are huge nostalgia trips for me, but I still think the new ones are good and are adding a lot to the franchise. I still like first gen the best (though that may also be some bias of loving the earlier seasons of the show leaking in there), but the others are still great (and like you said, gameplay wise they're much better).
