I would only read "Avoid my shitty fics" if it has those kind of rants.

SA: Read as*

Me fails English.

I would at least side-eye that, yeah. But... I guess good for them if they only want extremely like-minded people reading their fic?

Oh man, yeah, I have a huge pet peeve about people who think they have the right to forbid others from engaging with their public content. If you want to control who engages with your content, don't post your content on a public forum. These people's control-obsessed, self-righteous shortsightedness is...well, it may not be more off-putting that the bigotry they're decrying, but it is very, very off-putting in its own right.

I mean, I definitely wouldn't stop reading myself, but I'd never engage the author on any platforms or comment.

This gives me really r/AsABlackMan/ vibes but at the same time I know how aggressively obtuse this form of support can be. Especially if it's someone who turns out to be writing these characters weirdly/almost fetishly (that's probably not the right word, but when like all these fics were like Bucky Barnes is Jewish! and it just felt like they were trying to score points with their friends rather than representation)

This is how I usually react to... overzealous A/N in stories I'm enjoying.

I must admit that I always get r/AsABlackMan vibes to any secret that reads like this as well.

But then I push that aside and give them the benefit of the doubt. And this secret does sound like something that could easily happen, so I believe it.

Dollars to donuts this person isn't trans/non-binary and is doing it for the cred instead of asking trans and non-binary people what support they really need. If the representation in the stories is that good, you'd think they'd want bigots reading it and possibly having their attitudes shift.

this kind of thinking tends to force queer creators to out themselves in public, you know. if someone realises they are trans they're not going to wake up the next day with the manual on how to best do activism. trans people do performative things, they do transphobic things, they do illogical, harmful, idiotic things.
the people doing that shit could be cis, but you can't tell that by them doing this.
