Where does that tumblr post claim that romance novels are the ONLY option where women are happy and loved?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-15 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't think that's what the tumblr op meant either, they never said romance novels are the only genre where women get happy endings. And they're specifically referring to romance novels only, so idk why the op of this secret is so defensive?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-15 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It implies it.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Where?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-15 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It's stated as explicitly as it can be without those exact words being typed. Stop being deliberately obtuse.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I think OP is looking for reasons to be offended. Saying that romance is a genre that has happy endings for women doesn't imply that it's the only genre that does this. Just like saying "apples are a fruit" doesn't imply that they're the only fruit.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
+1. OP just seems to have an axe to grind. There was nothing offensive about the initial quote.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Or you’re just reading what you want to read into it like OP is, and acting dismissive and snotty to anyone that doesn’t immediately want to be mad at the comment.

Calling anyone else obtuse? Talk about no self-awareness.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-15 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean the whole "Excuuuuuuse meeee if I don't want to read books where women are punished and killed for being happy and enjoying sex" pretty much is saying that's what books that aren't romance novels are.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Where does the tumblr post say that? It doesn't talk about what books the person doesn't want to read. It only says that romance is a genre that has the things they want to read about, which is why they enjoy them.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-15 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Happily Ever After or Happy For Now" is baked into the definition of romance novels...

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
So? That doesn’t mean that the person who wrote the Tumblr post actually said romance novels are the only novels that have happy endings for women. Just the only novels where it’s guaranteed.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-15 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It declares that romance novels are the (implied, the only) genre where women get happy endings and don't die as a result of having sex. Don't play dumb

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
No, it doesn't. Where are you reading in the tumblr post that says romance is THE genre where women get happy endings?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They’re going by the lesser known definition of “implied”, which means “If you can’t find what you want something to mean, pull what you want it to mean out of thin air”

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
No one’s playing dumb, and they’re not wrong like you are. You’re just too angry to get what AYRT is saying.
