Huh. This is intereseting. I definitely feel like the general public moves quickly from one thing to another like OP says, but I haven't noticed the same thing in fandom itself.

Oops

Misfire, sorry.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, the reply to my secret-maker post got made into the secret?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that just the nature of pop culture, though?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, this was for secret 2, my bad.

With series like Squid Game, I wish they'd drop weekly. Mare of Easttown actually had a fandom on reddit and it was super fun to engage with episode discussions, because a whodunnit really works better when people have a chance to chat about who dun it!

https://www.reddit.com/r/MareofEasttown/ is the subreddit.

I've binged several shows and enjoyed them, but some really should drop weekly to build the buzz, IMO.

Yes to this. I really hate the binge model when the whole series drops at once. Weekly episodes have more time to digest each one, more time for other people to catch up, more time for fan theories and speculation and anticipation.

When I really fall for a fandom, I like to be there for a long time. There are fandoms I've been writing for off and on for literally 20 years. I can't stand this faddish "ew, why are you writing for a show that was two years ago, that's SO OLD" mentality.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I would really have no confidence in them not to fuck it up.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's me as well.

Wiccan and Hulkling will be ‘Roommates’, calling it now.

There'll be one scene where their hands touch, and the entire promo campaign for the series will be built around it being Disney's FIRST GAY CHARACTERS EVER!!!!

I know very little about Young Avengers, but this seems like it could be interesting. I wonder if they’re waiting to see how Hawkeye is received.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-16 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
A few years ago I would have been worried about them making Young Avengers and fucking it up, but my general care level about the MCU has dropped enough that I can happily go back to cherry-picking what I like and ignoring the bad stuff. So Young Avengers, bring it on!

There’s way more misfires than usual in this thread.

And at least two of them don’t seem to realize they misfired either...

Yeah, kind of a bummer, I was hoping for more of a discussion so I could learn something
