I can't quite imagine why you would be having such a hard time admitting what your fandoms are. Do you think they're too childish? Too strange? Too pornographic?

Not OP but as someone who struggles similarly it's because I always worry about there being some sort of drama I wasn't aware of that makes it Problematic (or that such a thing would surface between submitting and posting) and that the replies will only focus on that instead of the actual secret content. It's a silly worry to be sure, but getting past that discomfort isn't any easier for knowing it.

You’re just trying to be a contrarian at this stage. You’re not actually making the point you think you are just by using something like Gor, which is widely hated for being sexist and awful. You’re not really contradicting anything they’ve said about possibly controversial or embarrassing fandoms as a whole just by using the most extreme example possible of something controversial.

OP here. I just always expect to be mocked about my interests even without any logical reason, it's a thing with me. But online discourse doesn't help. You like het couple? Oh, it's homophobic, you know. Slash? Well, it's still homophobic but for different reasons. You like this title? It's so problematic. You can't win.
