In general I think people are way too picky about plotholes nowadays. The tendency to nitpick and then think some media is ~bad is just annoying and unenjoyable.

But I also think that creators can be very lazy about their worldbuilding, especially on tv, and it does ruin characterization and flow.

I don't know how to find balance.

Yup. If you are gonna make werl-achuarlying your sole fandom engagement, then you forfeit the right to get angry when CinemaSins takes the piss out of you as well. Because you aren't a fan, you're just an asshole.
