I was very much not okay with him hitting Buck, but it did seem somewhat in character (he lashed out, in words, at his brother because he was angry about his father). Chim was angry and stressed out and sad and scared and I could see why that might have pushed him to physically lashing out. The problem mostly was him not apologizing for it after he had calmed down and Eddie sort of condoning it (though Eddie did the fight club thing, so he might have a skewed sense of appropriateness when it comes to throwing a punch). But, yeah, the narrative should have said it wasn't okay like it said Athena hitting Harry wasn't okay, even if that was worse. Honestly, it's a little weird how much Chim expects Buck to be on Maddie's side (like after the whole keeping Daniel a secret thing came out), but somehow doesn't expect him to keep her confidences.

It bothered me a LOT that Chim hit Buck. I really wonder if Maddie will ever find out because given her history with domestic violence, she shouldn't (and hopefully won't) take it well.

Yikes. Thanks a lot of the spoilers. Some of us are only on season 2 episode 16.

I agree. I am more annoyed with the Athena hitting her son storyline. Not cool, and it doesn't seem particularly in-character either.

there's something about athena that plays like a 1960s black mom to me of the "you betta stop crying before i give you something to cry about" type but the show's tone is very much rooted in 2020s more left socio-ethical landscape, so like i agree it's out of character....but i also think it's very much in character, if extreme. in character but out of tone, i guess.

I honestly not loving this subplot at all even if its to let some actors gracefully exit for some time (I think there was overlap with Jennifer Love Hewitt's real life pregnancy during filming last season and this season so why Maddie had to leave).

Honestly I will only accept Maddie leaving out of the blue if we find out she checked herself into a facility somewhere to get help with her mental health at this moment. Just up and leaving without a word to your partner is so far away from a right thing to do.

I really did not like Chim hitting Buck nor the follow up that he changes his voicemail to basically tell Buck to stop calling. It seems to mean spirited. Especially in light in how last episode Buck feels like everyone is blaming him.

And that's only because no one is talking!!!! Clear communication is needed!

She better have checked herself into a facility - especially since it seems she didn't get any help at all while in LA. What did Chimney think? His wife tells him she has PPD and he just lets her isolate herself further with a newborn rather than getting her help? He's a paramedic, he should know she was in acute distress and in no state to get better on her own or be expected to be proactive about her treatment.

He showed us in the previous episode (and in his discussion with Hen it was clear) that he was hovering over her constantly. She was seeing someone and they kept switching her meds trying to find the right ones. I'm not sure where you get isolation from that.

I think its due to the blackout happening. We are told multiple times that the firehouses were kept on high alert (no one was let to go home) during that timeframe. So Maddie was home alone with, as far as we know, no outside help coming in due to Chim and Albert being at work.

I did wonder a bit how no one seemed to band together to do any 'lets check up on each other' on the spouses / significant other side of things.
