Am I a weirdo? I've never had a crush on a literary character. After I've seen an actor portray them in a movie, sure, like Olivier as Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, but book characters are too two-dimensional for me.

I can't recall crushing on a literary character, either. I'm with you, seeing them in a film version makes doing that a lot easier for me, too.

nah, you're not a weirdo. I need visuals too. Book characters are people I want to be my best friends, my found family, my adventuring partners, people who are fun to hang out with and will protect each other in a situation.

You're a weirdo for having a crush on Heathcliff, no matter who plays them, that guy is a toxic mess.

I mean, if we're gonna be judgy, then really? You're gonna get all brow-raisey about Heathcliff when Lucius Malfoy is ITT? Abusive brooders are beyond the pale but magical Nazis get a pass? Judging you for that, tbh.

Lucius Malfoy knows what he's about

The point is that Olivier was hot.

People these days want to bang Loki, and he's a mass-murderer. Come on.

Is he? Who did he kill?

He killed 80 people in two days, Thor.

OP of thread

nah, you're not weird. different things work for different people!

I have crushes on literary characters (most recently Quan Diep from The Heart Principle; he's the first in a LONG time even though he's kinda messy he's still a good dude who'd be there for you no matter what. In my head he's really hot, so that helps too lol. Frankly, i think I'd be disappointed if/when literary characters are turned into flesh and blood. I remember my disappointment when Alex Pettyfer was cast as Alex. 11 year old me was so upset. Same shit for Jacob Black! Lol 15 y/o me was SO ANGRY lmao). I suppose for me, in the mind, the beauty has no...fixed look? I don't quite know how to explain it other than it's usually not as good as whatever i had imagined, likely a hodgepodge of facial features i find attractive as one.
