It especially bugs me because there's an artist doing it right now in one of my fandoms - they're taking a character who isn't even POC, just tanned, and drawing them with super dark skin and then totally ignoring the actual canon POC character who HAS canonically dark skin. Like, WTF? We finally get a main character in this canon who is actual canon POC and you're ignoring it in favor of making a non-POC darker? Ugh. Fuck off with that.
