When the news about the crackdown came out, I was definitely more worried about real life backlash against creators and people who made the BL adaptations... I mean, look at what happened to Zhang Zhehan, that was nuts. My second concern was how crazy censorship laws are. I don't even know the full story here, but what I've heard makes the government sound alarmingly reactive about banning stuff for flimsy reasons.

But yeah, fandom is very shipping-focused and sometimes that leads to embarrassing tunnel vision on their part.
