Yeah, I'm also ace, and a couple of days before my period is definitely peak "give me ALL the filthy, physically impossible porn" time, for me.

That said, filthy, physically impossible porn is something I crave the rest of the time, too, if only because I just don't have enough of a libido to get turned on by anything else. The fic has to grab my eyeballs and pour a torrent of raunch into my brain, otherwise my libido is just like, "Eh, cool story bro."

I mean, I do enjoy other types of smut, emotionally and psychologically. But the best-written smut I've ever read, which grips me emotionally and plays me like a fiddle, and which makes me literally feel like I'm panting for it emotionally...is still not the smut I get off to. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
