The 2009 movie is a reboot/origin story so you need no prior knowledge!

I hope you love it. I have fond memories of the summer of 2009 and all the amazing fanfic. Bones stole my heart there.

Yeah, agreeing with the above anon - no prior knowledge required because they introduce everyone to you. I think it's likely more fun if you know the lore because there are all kinds of little nods to the original (like where Bones wears his ring) scattered throughout the movie, but also it's intended as an intro to newcomers so the actual plot and characters aren't going to go over your head or anything. =)
