OP sounds terrified of their friends turning on them, so...

(That's the disturbing part of the secret to me, not the ship.)

OP's friends might not actively send them death threats or try to get them fired, but might still judge them and not want to be friends with them anymore.

Not as bad as doxxing, but still judgmental and childish. People who will do that aren't good friends, but it can still hurt to lose them.
