To any creators, I'm curious to hear what your experiences are like in terms of feedback/likes/kudos/comments on different platforms that you post your creations (fics, art, cosplay, videos, etc.)? How do they compare to each other? Pros/Cons to a platform? Any platforms you wish would be the main place for your content/fandom? Answer as much or as little as you want.

Geocities or webrings, they offered the perfect way to send feedback, store fanfic and fan art, and interact with other fans.

Which is a real problem now.

In my doll fandom, Instagram seems to be the best place to get feedback because people will like and comment on your pictures, but it's hard to make friends and have discussions in the comments. You can DM people, but I feel kinda weird doing that for some reason. Instagram can also turn a little nasty sometimes depending on whatever drama the BNFs are having.

I write fic for a few anime fandoms and I get the most engagement on AO3. I posted on Tumblr and FF.net for a while, but I always got the most response on AO3, so that's the only place I post now.

I get a decent amount of kudos on AO3 and a decent amount of likes and reblogs on Tumblr. Those are really the main two places where my main fandom, the only fandom I really actually write for, is located. It isn't a huge fandom, nor are my ships huge, but I get more response honestly than I ever expect. I'm always super critical of myself and my work, but some people seem to enjoy my stuff, and that makes me happy.

I post fic and podfic on AO3, and there's usually a steady flow of feedback in kudos and comments (though significantly less for the podfic).

I also link on Tumblr, but I couldn't say it really brings in an audience.

When I do get feedback on a Tumblr link, it seems more of a, 'Yay, you finished a thing, well done' kinda thumbs-up, not an 'oh my word, I must read/listen to this thing immediately!' deal.

I post fics on AO3 and Tumblr. Generally speaking, I get the same amount of feedback/engagement, which is, I get likes and kudos but not a lot of comments. They're not motivation for me to write but it does feel nice to get likes and comments.

I prefer posting on AO3, but Tumblr feels slightly more supportive. But both platforms do feel like I have a hard time getting to know people.

Writers promote themselves/engage with readers on Twitter, but I don't want to promote my works on Twitter.

When it comes to interacting in fandom and just having a space to talk fandom and share thoughts and ideas, I miss LJ very, very much. I have a deep, seething resentment of tumblr for being such a shit platform to merely exist and chat on.

That said, both tumblr and AO3 are pretty glorious for feedback compared to LJ and FFN. I mean, the majority of the feedback I get is kudos and likes, with only a few comments, but that's fine, I'll take 400 kudos, 12 comments, 200 likes, and 14 reblogs over 12 comments and then radio silence forever, which was basically the norm when I was on LJ or FFN.

Another thing about kudos I love is that you continue to get them, slowly, for years, and I find that very encouraging. It reminds me to feel good about the stuff I've created.

Even though Deviantart is the most useful in terms of organization for my own fan art gallery (although not as much since the eclipse update), as well as liking the commenting system there - I don't get as many comments there unless its a REALLY big and active fandom. However I do get pretty regular interactions on there by the few who still use the site, but I think its because you can't 'like' works on there because your only options are to favorite the piece or comment. Despite the site dying its still one I visit often.

Tumblr is the one I like to post on the most and get the most likes on - but the commenting system is awful if you're posting your works on a side-blog. I've been considering starting another account so that I can communicate better but I can't decide if I want to just up and move my fanart to a new account or if I should wait until I get obsessed with a new fandom and start posting then.

I like Pillowfort and the commenting system there, but there isn't as many people there as the other sites I use and even then I tend to just get a handful of likes. Admittedly I'm on this one the least either because of issues with the site or just not much to catch up on when I do get back there after weeks have gone by.
