I lost interest when it came out that Ryan and Shane are not friends IRL. I don't expect every duo to be BFFs but it was made so clear that their friendship was mostly an act it took a lot of the fun out of the show. Same thing happened with Mythbusters. I quit watching after the truth about Adam and Jamie came out.

>Ryan and Shane are not friends IRL

Really? They've been to Disneyland together and post about doing non-work things together (like shopping). I can't imagine doing those things with someone I am not friends with.

I don't know how close they are, but they've got a whole channel of their own together along with another friend, so even if they're not super buddy-buddy they must be close enough to want to do that surely? I can't imagine you'd continue to work with someone you don't actually like, unless ofc the money is worth it?

It's weird to me that anyone would refer to "the truth about Adam and Jamie". I thought it was always pretty clear that they didn't particularly like each other and certainly weren't friends outside the show.

They definitely are. That whole thing was a joke (what do they call it? A "bit"). they even addressed it in the next video iirc. They started an entire new company together, why on earth would they do that if they didn't enjoy each other's company? As soon as Buzzfeed ended their contracts they would have gone their separate ways, but they didn't.

okay, parasocial relationships and the weird fandoms around celebrity friendships are VERY WEIRD, but I do think Ryan and Shane are actually friends? it's not like mythbusters where they were two professionals in their fields working together, these are two dum-dums from buzzfeed, neither of whom had any experience professional ghost-hunting (or however you wanna describe it) prior. if they didn't get along or want to work together, they could've stopped a very long time ago. and not started their own production company together?
