Honestly the Mandalorian doesn't feel much like Star Wars to me at all, so I totally get why non-fans would enjoy it. Baby Yoda is cute, but other than that I'm pretty meh on the show. Don't hate it, but it doesn't give me that Star Wars excitement most of the rest of the universe does.

I don't know if I'd say all of that, but I saw this movie recently and I feel like I know where you're coming from maybe? I know that I'm glad I didn't see it in HS because I would have been super obnoxious (because I saw alot of myself in Dr. Frarkenfurter). It's definitely something I would have enjoyed so much more back then, now it just makes me nostalgic for times I was wilder/ a different kind of free-er.

It had some decent moments/elements, but definitely one of the worst MCU movies. And I cannot understand people who say that the characters are well developed. Not often that the infodump scenes are the more interesting ones.

early aughts fandom had some real hot takes from people who didn't grasp nuance, corners of prequel SW fandom were ridiculous.

I think it depends on the fandom. In a lot of fandoms People only like anti-heroes and think straight-up heroes or villains are boring and always one-dimensional and that the only way a character is interesting is if they are "grey."

I've come to understand that this is because the Main Character (you know, Mr. The Mandalorian) doesn't care about the canon events that are happening at this same time? Or any of the original series characters?

He's just a guy who thinks he's in a space-western and is trying to find a good daycare for his kid.

But that's why it works IMO. And I say that as someone who has genuinely enjoyed all the movies. Which is a different kind of fandom heresy (allegedly, as I've had yelled at me by OT, PT, and ST fans)

Which are some of your favorite or least favorite "come hither" phrases you've found in fic or other types of media? Which ones give you heaps of second hand embarrassment? What was the delivery/context that made something work (when it otherwise wouldn't?)

Bonus points if you've ever used any of them in real life!!

I've (to my embarrassment) have used the "old enough" phrase when I was, in fact, very much not old enough and trying to act grown lmao. 13 year old me really thought I was cute lol
