Well. Today has been fascinating and weird and great. So it turns out that everyone had been lied to by the woman who I thought was my mentor, the head of the immigration department at the firm. She told the big boss lies about me, stoked the paralegal's negativity, and lied to me about what everyone was saying and eventually why I was being let go. She told the big boss I was outright lying to clients. No client threatened to report me as she claimed.

So, it turns out that she was running her own firm on the side. She joined us only to steal clients and get more work during slower-than-usual pandemic times. Meanwhile, she was claiming clients that were the firms were hers and was working at her own virtual firm from home when she said she was working from home because her son was sick or she couldn't get daycare.

And most likely she thought I might figure it out so tried to get me fired?

Anyway, she's gone, I have my job back starting tomorrow, and I'm not going to trust anyone for a while.

Congrats on getting the job back but also great big YIKES that something like that was going on there. o_o I hope getting rid of her and being aware of it helps people communicate better.

Man, like most people, I've had shitty bosses and coworkers, but that's fucking nuts! I'm glad you got your job back, though. What a horrible person. I wonder if her bs stopped there or if she ripped off clients or treated them like shit, too. Could she be disbarred?
