Doctor Who new Episodes

Maybe a SPOILER WARNING if someone else replies with spoilers.

Anyways I think I'm too dumb to watch this show any more. It's the first new show in a while I've gotten round to watching and I can't get my head around what's going on - there's only three more episodes to go and there's suppose to be a start over with a new Doctor by the end of it, so I'll stick with it til then. But in honesty I've not really had any fun watching this series since Matt Smith's first two-ish series as the Doctor.

I'm usually stubborn and try to watch a show til 'the end' of its run, but I think I'm ready to throw the towel in and try watching classic Who in the future.

I gave up watching it tbh. The writing is very smug and self-satisfying and also doesn’t make sense if you’re capable of critical thinking. I don’t need Super Smart Tv, I just don’t want stupid shit that pretends to be smart. But mostly I just miss when it was a fun show :(

I feel like a good course-correction would have been a couple of self-contained episodes. Maybe more "bottle episodes". Something to re-center and ground us back with the Doctor after everything.

But no, we just dived right back in with the Doctor's forgotten past and deep mysterious lore.

That's disappointing, sigh. I always preferred the idea that as far as Time Lords go, the Doctor was just ordinary, maybe even LESS so. They weren't special because they were somehow inherently superior--they were special because of the CHOICES they made. Their life and their morals set them apart from the Time Lords, who otherwise viewed them as some slacker/disappointment, which in my mind always made for an intriguing dynamic.

The Doctor being their racial progenitor and secretly super unique and special and a lot of them were in on it the whole time? I can't even begin to care.

Yes, all of this.

Plus, a Doctor that has been persistently holding her companions at arms-reach, meaning that we don't actually get much of a sense of what she's really feeling.

I didn't like the Timeless Child nonsense, but could we at least slow down for a moment and work through it? Nope. Straight on to other nonsense from the Doctor's past.

I don’t really get what’s going on in this new season, but I’ve been enjoying it so far. I really like the villains and I just hope it ends up having a satisfying conclusion. I get where you’re coming from though. I almost gave up on watching Doctor Who when Clara was introduced ‘cause those episodes with her and Eleven were such a pain to get through, but I ended up sticking with it ‘cause I wasn’t watching anything else at the time. I’m pretty glad I did ‘cause I ended up loving Twelve and I quite like Thirteen as well.

For what it’s worth, Classic Who is pretty fun. I’ve seen most of it and liked all the Doctors, but Seven is my favorite and his seasons are delightful (especially the ones with Ace).
