I actually liked how that protag started from a place of vulnerability i.e. "I'm fucked up about this and need to get outta here against the reasonable advice of everyone to not buy into the obvious scam for a shitload of money" rather than "I'm rich and bored" or having the family be some excuse for a macho revenge plot

Too bad he was pretty boring otherwise, but it wasn't a bad premise
