Seconding this. It had so much potential early on, but man it squandered every single drop of that potential.

Ultimately, BBC Sherlock only worked for me if the writers cared deeply about the interiority of the characters, and, above all, understood that Sherlock Holmes was the way he was because he was stunted and needed very badly to grown as a person. But in the end, they mostly just seemed to fanboy him and think his behavior was cool. *sigh* And then John morphed into a violent rage-monster (which was understandable up to a point, considering what he'd been put through, but was largely unenjoyable to watch, even before it eventually completely surpassed the bounds of acceptable behavior). Ugh.

The rage monster John is something I couldn't articulate before, thanks for putting it onto words. They changed his characterization too much from the first season.
