So we finally got the squatters out of the block without having to imitate them and use arson yay that's a major step, but there are still 15 cubic meters of trash at the end of our yard and godsknowhow many more inside the last vandalized house and we still can get rid of the rats because of that?

Not really. You can think that, but it doesn’t mean anything. Being over-sensitive, while acknowledging that it’s a joke isn’t really the same as being a dickhead. But I guess that’s just your favorite insult, no matter if it fits or not. That’s pretty dumb.

*shrug* They did it to make legal tenants go away in the first place. So no, I would not to the same to retaliate but the thought did plague my mind for many months.

I was never a squatter, but I was homeless for a couple of years, so I’m admittedly over-sensitive to this kind of thing. But I know(and acknowledged, whether the idiot above cared to read or not) that that part of your comment was said in jest. So it’s fine, and I obviously don’t think you would actually do that.

(And yes, I know that squatters make a lot more trouble than regular homeless people in general, so I shouldn’t really be defensive towards them as a whole. Knee-jerk reactions, and all that.)

Yeah, when most people say "squatters" they usually mean "people who right the wrong of real estate speculation by entering empty houses and living there while paying their own bills, just no rent" and yeah I know it's cheaper to just house the homeless no question asked BUT; what I've personally been dealing with for the last year and half is, "crack dealers that filled the hole left by an old man who died of covid, invited their customers to join them, burgle the next houses, mug the neighbours at knifepoint, assault them, harrass them, set fire to another house, steal yet another house from its legal tenant during the chaos that ensued, break everything inside the half-dozen houses they broke in, throw the broken furniture by the windows, leave half-eaten pizza and kebab everywhere for the rats to eat, shit everywhere" and... I don't remember what else, it's been quite a lot for quite a long time.

Holy shit, that's crazy. I was also not sure how I felt about your venting, before, because I wasn't sure what you mean by "squatters" and tend to feel very defensive of homeless people, but these people you're dealing with sound horrible.
