I always felt that the film done Clive a bit dirty, by emphasising the fear of consequences as his main motivation for dumping Maurice, whereas it seemed a little more organic change of heart in the book. (Bearing in mind it is probably 20 yrs since I last read the book.)

That said, I was a Scudder girl through and through, even before Rupert Graves showed his beautiful, beautiful face.
