My NOTP in my current main fandom is a NOTP because one of the characters is an amoral murderer who gives no shits about anything but dressing fancy and getting what he wants, and the other's an earnest, good hearted type, and 1) both would be appalled and disgusted by each other if they met and 2) the second one mightily deserves better. But the shippers have somehow decided to ignore the canon characterization of the first one and declare him simply a mean goth type with a secret heart of gold for no reason that I can discern. I think it's about The Aesthetic Of It All bc I can see no other explanation
