Agreed. I’m sick of misanthropic takes that lump people who are either trying their best or actually making a difference with the corrupt and stupid people that aren’t the majority. I get AYRT’s frustration with how many of these problems are solvable, but aren’t being solved. But you’re right that it’s the fault of the corrupt who have too much power, and the backwards fools who support them for their own benefit, or out of bigoted or paranoid bs. Most people are just as frustrated at these worst of us, and how they get in the way of progress.

Misanthropic people who always think the worst of people are just as immature as the most hopeless idealists who blind themselves to the bad parts of life, even when it ends up making them ignore someone’s plight. Because I can sympathize with AYRT, even though I don’t agree with their cynicism, I’m not including them with the immature misanthropes I’m referring to. I’m mostly referring to people who sound like overgrown whiny teenagers with their constant cynicism. Not people like AYRT who seem more like they’re worn down in frustration by things like some people’s responses to the pandemic and vaccines, and climate change deniers.

Nayrt

+100, it's not a very helpful way of thinking.
