I think the situation with her on Twitter was more complicated than that, and much less black and white in who was in the wrong or not. It was just an all around shitshow. But I do still think she let her experiences there color her perception of proshippers more negatively than proshippers as a whole deserve, and it made the video frustrating. I didn’t hate it(and I still like her videos as a whole), but it felt emotionally one-sided how she covered both sides. And it was based solely on her personal experiences, which isn’t a great move. It was also one-sided in who came out looking worse as well, and that was of course the antis she covered.

I honestly do think it’s a plus(even though it might have been unintentional on her part) that she still accurately portrayed antis as the more insidious group, even though she was trying to go for a ‘both sides’ approach. Especially because she clearly seems to dislike proshippers more because of the Twitter debacle. Because antis and their horrifying behavior deserve to be exposed to more people outside of fandom who might have been unaware previously. And it might help some open-minded people in her audience be able to spot some of their tactics in the future.

I was following her on twitter at the time so I had front row seat to the entire shitshow. I agree that the entire thing was of course not black and white, but overall I still profoundly dislike the way she started the entire debacle, and then continued, and then just went to turn her nose up at people who were trying to explain to her in entirely good faith how and why she went to accidentally poke at a hornet's nest. Genuinenly lost all respect for her that day : T that said some self proclaimed pro-shipper where a 100% acting like shit to her, which did not help the situation at all.

I'm again not surprised to hear that her own bias colored the video, which is in a way entirely understanding because I'm sure she received a barrage of harassment and that entirely sucks... But it also sorta reinforces in me the idea that I simply cannot trust her opinion in the matter of fandoms anymore *shrug

At least happy to know she did make an effort to show just how bad antis can get, although I'm not quite sure just what positive effect on the situation people 'external' to fandoms knowing more about it can really do : c
