I never got around to Discovery so felt a bit "can't miss what I never had" about it but...I'm getting to the point where I'm a little fatigued over everyone having a streaming service. I'm not sure if this is just life now or the bubble will burst but there's a point where I'm considering not subscribing to any new ones and might ditch one or more of the ones I have at some point tbh.

I'm in the UK so e.g. our Netflix offering isn't too bad, but I know it can wildly vary depending on country. If other streaming platforms aren't putting up their best content everywhere I imagine people in a lot of European countries will think "pass" unless there's a show they really want to binge so they'll pay for a month or do a free trial.

Trek is a bit different because there is still so much fan-activity around it. It is one of the few fandoms that still has a lot of old style traditional fan interaction online. If you miss a broadcast date then you are out in the cold as far as the rest of fandom goes, it is why so many Trek fans feel bent over a barrel on this.

Yeah, Trek is one of those things where I love it and will watch it but never really got into the fandom side of it. Sounds like way too much pressure to keep up anyway from your description! I feel bad for anyone who was looking forward to new content though and had the rug pulled from under them. That was definitely a dick move.

I absolutely despair over all the streaming platforms coming out, like I have cable(BT) and a NF account, I don't want more because I'm not about to pay for 50 streaming services to watch one show on each. I'll either pirate or just not watch thanks.

I think your last sentence is what a lot of people will end up doing.

We've got a TV package through Virgin Media, Netflix and Disney+. Disney+ was only because when we signed up it was £45-50 for the year and we knew the Stars expansion was coming so thought it'd give us quite a lot of choice on top of their new shows. Well, I got an email recently saying the annual cost is getting bumped up to nearly £80. Definitely making me reconsider if it's worth it just to get The Mandalorian or whatever when it premiers.

Yeah, I have Netflix and Prime and if something's not on those, oh well!
