I don't understand how fandoms like Rick and Morty, South Park, and Black Butler have antis.

How can people watch through the (often extremely problematic!) source material and then freak out about someone shipping a pair when the shows have everything they claim to hate in them?

I don't know anything about Rick and Morty or South Park, but Black Butler antis have the lack of critical viewing skills or just the willful ignorance to believe the series' canon does not encourage shipping Sebaciel and if you ship it you're missing the point because the show is trying to tell you that Sebaciel is toxic and bad and if you ship it you're wrong. Because their minds don't have room for the concept of a relationship being portrayed as toxic and being encouraged as a ship by canon at the same time.

Maybe when PC Principal entered South Park, the antis actually believed some things were off limits now.

(Idk, just a guess. I don't really get it either.)

Speaking as someone who’s been around since South Park’s early days…people thought it was for kids and it was part of the shock culture when they realised it had swearing and violence. I don’t know what the case is now, but it was an one of those instances of mothers being all “think of the children!!” South Park has always had antis.

Yeah, people didn't realize the depths of South Park. My dad had gotten a DVD of South Park but hadn't watched it yet. He hosted a party, a bunch of us kids had put it on in our designated kids' area. My Dad came to check on us and it was only as he heard Mr Garrison graphically describing an erect penis for the sex scene in his romance novel did he realize his mistake.
