... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and I'll try my best to use an appropriate image choice. Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.

I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!

Sorta inspired by #7:

I miss traditional fantasy novels. I'm bored with subversions, deconstructions, and aversions, I just want the simplicity of a traditional tale of good and evil again. Give me a good old fashioned tale of romantic heroics instead.

My most shocking opinion on Masters of the Universe: Revelations is that I don't have a shocking opinion on it. Everyone I know is either stoked over it, or all angry about it, but I watched it and am just resoundingly "meh" over the whole thing.
I think I must be doing fandom wrong.

I always feel guilty when someone in the fandom discord group recs a fic that has something in it that's an instant no for me.

I don't know why-- I never say anything negative about the fics, or do anything to shut down conversation about fics I don't like. If it's not an exchange where I'm being written for, I don't bring up/list my squicks and triggers, so I don't see any point in telling someone they recced me something I won't like when it's just one tag and 95% of the fic does sound like exactly my kind of thing and other people will still be able to enjoy the recced fic.

It's not like it's anyone's fault or a moral failing if I don't like a fic someone else loves... I just feel guilty.

I'm part way through American Crime Story: Impeachment and it feels like virtually nothing is happening other than people sitting around talking either in person or on the phone. Yet I'm really invested.

It's probably because it's making me feel on Monica's side in a way I didn't know at the time as a child. Most of us probably did something stupid in early adulthood, but fortunately not like this!

I once worked with a woman besotted with Jensen Button. She'd stalk the clubs he went to, befriend people who knew him, genuinely tried to socially engineer her way to a relationship with him, and I honestly think he'd have had grounds for a restraining order if he knew.

Kid!me won Disney's Incredible Story Studio competition with a story about a girl who could see into the future. For some reason my film alone never aired. There are only two copies of it in existence, one a VHS I own.

A year-ish after, That's So Raven aired - with several of the same exec staff and same producer.

COINCIDENCE?!?! ...yeah, probably. S!B: it's a wild conspiracy theory.

I haven't yet played Shin Megami Tensei V and honestly I'm increasingly hesitant to... because the soundtrack for it is so damn good that I'm afraid if the game isn't just as awesome that it'll weaken my opinion on the soundtrack. My god, what a banger of a soundtrack, I'm just so blown away that it's as good as SMT: Nocturne's, maybe even better.

I think I’m aging out of YA novels. All the ones I’ve read lately have been terrible and I don’t get how they’re so popular.

I'm not specifying the manga, but I was responsible for a fan translator group quitting the translation of a manga that I liked, even though the manga was... crap. Big pile of dookie. Utter shit. But I still liked that manga a lot, and have some sentimentality towards it.

I made the mistake of saying that the manga itself was kinda not the best, but I look forward to seeing what the mangaka is going to do next.

The next couple of days later, the fan translator group announces that they're no longer going to be fantranslating anything at all.

On one hand, oops, sorry fellow fans. TT_TT On the other hand, jesus, how sensitive.

That manga was pretty crap though.

Sondheim's my favorite not because of his musical and lyrical genius, though that is legend. But because he loves writing songs about epically messy people, and the resolution is more "you'll have to deal with being messy" rather than "you gotta stop being messy"*.

*The exception from his musicals I've seen is Follies, because I have nothing but contempt for Ben and his mental breakdown song about his shallow depth really being his own self-hatred doesn't make it better. If he spent less than 90% of the musical being the worst, maybe, but he doesn't. That musical neither feels sufficiently resolved nor unresolved, so I think it's Sondheim's worst.

I'm only getting into Star Wars because of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Every other single aspect of it can piss off, but if Thrawn's involved, then we're cool.

I can't get enough of that blue guy.

b!s: I think if there's a live-action adaptation of him, I hope to god he's NOT played by someone with more stardom than actual suitability for the role. The rumors of him being played by Benedict Cumberbatch were depressing, but unsurprising.

The absolute dregs of the internet is the Youtube comments section, but I have taken some amount of joy from dunking on the racists/transphobes/sexists/bigots on there by shutting down their arguments by informing them that the creators of the stuff they're gatekeeping are major SJWs.

Thank you creators of a lot of nerd media for being SJWs (aka decent human beings who wrote a lot of positivity and sympathy for those being oppressed)!

Genshin Impact has reached Bitch Eating Crackers level of resentment from me whenever it comes up.

I'm just so tired of hearing about it, and I'm really sick of that 'emergency food' ad that comes up on youtube about every other video.

S!B: I love a stupid Gacha game too. It'd be pretty hypocritical for me to rain on people's parades. Plus, I know it's petty and I'm just jealous that this is the shiny new thing.

I don't understand how fandoms like Rick and Morty, South Park, and Black Butler have antis.

How can people watch through the (often extremely problematic!) source material and then freak out about someone shipping a pair when the shows have everything they claim to hate in them?

On one hand, I’m glad they were able to end the show on their terms and not leave us hanging or let Buzzfeed continue/end it with new people. On the other, I’m gonna miss the ghoul boys (I know about Watcher yes but it’s not the same).

Bonus secret: I miss baby faced Ryan from the early seasons :( he looks like a douche now

I just binge watched all of Made In Abyss and am now fully aware of the controversy regarding its squicky portrayal of underage characters. While I agree with it (some scenes were so goddamn uncomfortable), where was this uproar when Evangelion was sexualizing 14-year olds?

I agree Made In Abyss is disturbing, but it gets so much flack while Evangelion is still hailed as a masterpiece.

I'm getting very tired of the performative wokeness in fandom, (for lack of a better term). The people who make the most noise in fandom about how much they care about -isms, -phobias and various oppressions always seem to be among those who treat their fellow fans the worst. If someone has to constantly tell everyone how kind and moral and pure they are, odds are that they're not.

I've been a fanish magpie my whole life jumping from movies to books to comics to games and then back. I'd search up new communities and fics and forums and tumblrs and make new friends and keep the old.

But now fandom is so much more insular and I've finally found a nice spot with friends and some quality discord channels. I hope I don't change interests again! I'm terrified of having to start over.
