I recently rewatched a few adaptations of Cyrano de Bergerac, and although normally I'm all about het age gap ships with older men, it bugs me that the actors playing Cyrano were enough older than the actresses playing Roxanne to contradict that they were childhood friends, not "small girl and teen boy/20-something babysitter." I'm still excited for the upcoming musical film adaptation, but I hope some day I get to see the play performed with Roxanne, Christian, and Cyrano all in their 20s. Maybe it's hard to find young actors who can pull Cyrano off without seeming wooden since the original play and most English translations rhyme, but twentysomethings manage Shakespeare, so idk.

BS: no, I haven't seen the version with James McAvoy. But even though he's in his 40s now, I'd like to see him tackle the second Anthony Burgess translation.
