There's The Expanse, I guess? Which is definitely SF and arguably has horror elements as well. And there do seem to be some science fiction projects (that aren't horror admittedly) getting made - there's Foundation on Apple TV, there's a Mass Effect show in progress at Amazon, and there's been a few things on Syfy and the CW recently (Vagrant Queen which was only 1 season unfortunately, and Pandora and Killjoys which ended pretty recently).

That said I do think you're basically on to something - it seems like most of the SF shows getting made are post-apocalyptic, near-future, or superhero stuff, none of which is what I would really call "classic" sci-fi and definitely not sci-fi horror.

Most of The Expanse's horror was in the first season and a bit in the second season - it's much more straight up SF after that. Killjoys was kind of the opposite, starting more grungy SF and going into horror as it went on!

Eh...it depends on how it ends in season six. There is definitely horror-y stuff in the books.

Not OP, but I tried to watch the Expanse and I couldn't get even halfway through season one. It just didn't resonate with me for some reason. I had the same issue with the 100 and everyone raves about both of them.

The 100 was a very cool idea/concept, but omg, did they fuck it. There were characters I loved and bits of it I loved, but they ground that show flat - so infuriating. I stuck it out to the end 'cause i wanted to see what became of my favorite, but it was...difficult.

I love the Expanse, both books and show.

Same!
A lot of my mutuals love it and I couldn't finish season 1. I am so sad
