(Anonymous) 2021-12-07 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)Were we even talking about RPF? There was nothing in the secret that indicated that.
Honestly, I think fandoms that revolve around adults forming parasocial relationships with teenagers is creepy as hell in and of itself, porn or no porn. I'm not going near that shit, and I'll continue to ignore the existence of fandoms like that because I think they're much weirder in a seriously unpleasant way than anybody's FPF omegaverse scatplay incesty dub-con fic. And I'll continue to be annoyed when anyone of any age gets puritanical about FPF content.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-08 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)As opposed to all the adults with an interest in fandoms centered around disney films, cartoons for pre-teens, and animes for 13 year old boys? Cute how the person who laments about being suspected of being a pedo for drawing porn about Stranger Things characters using faces of teenage actors as reference, thinks that merely watching a video with a teenager in it makes one a pedo. I will remember this hypocrisy and make sure to remind everyone of it next time someone complains about big bad antis being judgemental. Thanks!
Also, I'm not interested in teenage celebs. Twitch streamers of all ages do content together all the time, even though my primary interest might be in adult streamers, I can't skip all content they do together with teenage streamers, especially when adult and teenage streamers are part of a single roleplay scenario, where you have to watch multiple POVs to have any idea of what's going on.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-08 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)Why on earth would you assume I'm that same person? I've never watched Stranger Things in my life, and I don't even draw fanart at all.
Watching a video with a teenager in it doesn't make you a pedo. Constantly bringing up and harping on porn about real life teenagers in a conversation that isn't about that at all does make you seem fixated, monomaniacal, and also kind of an asshole. If this was real life I would be getting off the bus half a mile before my stop to get away from this ranting weirdo who won't stop going on about pedophiles everywhere.
Who cares if adults draw cartoon porn? (And man, do I have bad news for you about actual Disney illustrators!) Elsa from Frozen cannot be traumatized by seeing porn of herself because Elsa from Frozen isn't real and can't actually be harmed by anything.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-09 11:55 am (UTC)(link)If you run a search EXCLUDING RPF, you get 7,998,068
Subtract the former from the latter and you get 534,443
RPF is only a little more half a million fics out of more than 8 million.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-09 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)I was suspicious of this, because I know ppl don't tag correctly. I just searched for RPF like I was looking for it. An RPF all fandoms search will give you ... the same: 534,442 RPF fics.
Video blogging RPF, the fandom you seem obsessed with, only has 168,329 fics as of now, unless I'm not searching by the right tag. That is...not a major factor on an archive with 8 million fics.
I'm honestly surprised by how low that number is! I thought it would be bigger for its annoying social-media-presence. I definitely thought RPF was much less popular than FPF by a mile, but I didn't even realize it was less popular by a ten-hour drive. You're so much wronger about that than I thought you were!

(Anonymous) 2021-12-09 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)RPF is probably the largest category of fanworks on nearly every platform hosting fanworks.
Confirmed FALSE

(Anonymous) 2021-12-09 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)Search for Louis Tomlinson: 49845
Search for Louis Tomlinson with RPF filtered out: 48060
So only 1785 out of 49845 fanworks about a real life person, who repeatedly stated that RPF makes him uncomfortable, is tagged as RPF. That's 3.58% of the total RPF fanworks about one person alone. Granted, it's better for video blogging RPF, because it exists as its own category, but a lot of fics about actors and bands are tagged with just the actor and band's name, with no RPF tag anywhere on the fic.
You've been fired from snopes.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-09 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)But let's go further! I checked the top viewed fics on AO3 by number of hits. 3 out of top 6 was Video Blogging RPF fics. Dream SMP RPF specifically, despite existing for only a year. It beats fanfics even from major fandoms that existed for decades, such as Harry Potter, or Marvel multiverse.
Tell me again how totally unpopular RPF is in fandom today.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-09 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)However according to someone who actually does stats well, the top 10 fandoms on AO3 in number of fanworks only has ONE RPF fandom in it (BTS, at #7). The other 9 are all fictional: https://archiveofourown.org/works/29249172. Granted this is almost a year old, but I don't think it's changed that dramatically.
It does go to show how little RPF is on my radar. I just don't care about it at all so I haven't paid much attention.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-10 08:40 am (UTC)(link)Also, according to the stats in your link, "K-POP" and "Real Person Fiction" are the 3rd and 4th most popular fandom tags. I suppose the most popular pairings and top fandoms/pairings statistics don't properly reflect that, because RPF isn't tied to any one specific fandom, but can be found across nearly all fandoms. In other words: an RPF fic of Tom Hiddlestone/Chris Hemsworth will likely still be tagged as "Marvel" fandom and therefore contribute to the Marvel fandom numbers, and might not even be tagged as "RPF".

(Anonymous) 2021-12-08 02:25 am (UTC)(link)...The secret explicitly states it's about fiction. It's about a Fictional character ship. Don't conflate the two just to 'win' this argument.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-08 02:34 am (UTC)(link)This is definitely the same person who kept on and on and on about this in a different thread a while back. Someone told them they should take some time off from obsessing about this because it's clearly not good for their mental health. That was good advice and they should have taken it.
