Don't forget Curiosity Stream and Nebula.

personally, i really don't mind the nebula ones because it's usually their own projects and also, i fully know that youtube sucks.

I watched a video where a priest or monk gave 18 minutes of "useless Catholic facts" and halfway through he says, "And now a word about Squarespace... just kidding! This video is not sponsored." In addition to cracking me up, it made me realize how often I see Youtubers shilling for Squarespace that when he started saying that it felt so natural.

i just want you to know that there is no point in sitting through any sponsor segments - brands don't check viewer retention

I don't resent youtubers getting their money, but a the same time I skip every sponsorship in every vid because I don't care and am not interested.

Yeah sponser money is already given when youtubers do the whole side talk about the product they're advertising, so it doesn't matter in that aspect.

However I did hear that youtube has changed it that a channel (or a video, I'm not sure) has to have 4000 hours of watch time before a youtuber can monetize their videos.

The only one who gives fun and reads is Internet Historian because he clearly doesn't give a fuck. He had one for a VPN in the persona of a Noir Private Eye that included the line "I ripped the brakes out of my car, a man like me never learned how to stop." And I enjoy it.

I don't mind Youtubers making money, we all need money to live, but I'll skip add reads and long commercial with a clean conscious.

I think about that Internet Historian ad all the time. The distant little, "shut the fuck up" after the brakes line kills me

(Anonymous) 2021-12-12 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I know right? It cracks me up every time. He's like a breach from a parallel earth where ad reads are funny and unique to each video.

Isn't Internet Historian a right wing chud?

DA

It’s a strong possibility. He’s had some moments that make me believe he could be, which is one of the reasons I don’t watch him anymore(I also just think his content had been getting stale for a while). His comment section and community definitely are full of right wing chuds though. There’s so much yikes there constantly. Which is what you get for treating 4Chan as a fun place to hang out. You can only use the “I only do it ironically excuse” for so long.
