Who was Ron Jones?

DA

The composer for the first 4 seasons. Honestly, it sounds like it's a bit more complicated than Rick Berman being a knob.

Some interesting discussion and break down here: https://www.reddit.com/r/startrek/comments/qbpb07/fun_fact_the_original_composer_for_tng_ron_jones/

The composer on the first three and half seasons of TNG. Back when TNG first aired, Trek sprung for a composer to individually score each episode so they wouldn't have to resort to stock background music. Unfortunately Ron was too good at it, as far as Berman was concerned, and also he wasn't cheap. Stock background music is a lot cheaper. So Berman canned him, which was a fucking shame, because his music honestly was awesome and the best thing about the first two seasons especially. However, his stand out was scoring the Best of Both Worlds episodes and the movie grade music for the Borg attacks.

I feel Voyager especially suffered from the use of stock snippets and could really have benefited from an episode composer.

Here is a playlist of a lot of his stuff: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeQ8lYZtvUXOYaypvrZqQ4QDYMh2LiQL7
