Re: Plants to deter bears?

I, uh, am going to be highly skeptical of any plant on its own being a deterrent for any animal. Not only have many people I know tried planting things that allegedly deter deer and rabbits from their garden (we don't have bears here), and it never worked, but like... I have rabbits, who like to chew on things they're not supposed to like furniture and baseboards. Sometimes I find something that tastes/smells bad enough - for ONE RABBIT. And then the next rabbit comes along and starts licking it off like it's a tasty treat. (This has included the "bitter apple" sprays, grapefruit seed extract, soap, and tabasco.)

So yeah, there may be some bears that dislike the scent or whatnot and stay away. And then there are probably some bears that absolutely adore it. Animals have personal tastes just like humans.
