Re: Is There a Series/Media That Gets You Instantly Angry?
(Anonymous) 2021-12-15 11:18 am (UTC)(link)I don't mind stupid people in my horror movies since it's basically a staple in the genre, but dammit THAT MOVIE IS JUST BAD The music is good, the photography excellent and the actors more than decent, but the movie is just not a good horror movie. Probably one of the worst horror movie ever FOR ME. The praise online just makes me so angry... I just hope they'll do their sequels etc, but the concept of that movie will not infect the genre as a whole. There are already a lot of stupid horror movies, but they're usually not taken so seriously and you can have fun with them. A Quiet Place? NO. AWFUL. I HATE IT.
(I'm the anon that made the secret a while ago about watching the movies because of Cillian Murphy. I'M STILL NOT OVER IT)
Re: Is There a Series/Media That Gets You Instantly Angry?
(Anonymous) 2021-12-15 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)I am ok with stupid characters as a thing, I mean, stupid people do exist. But when it's consistent with the character — if they are being a bit naive or scared and being unreasonable or not having all the information and acting on this. But idiot ball trope for a plot movement is such a lazy writing and is so annoying.
Re: Is There a Series/Media That Gets You Instantly Angry?
(Anonymous) 2021-12-15 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)It's strangely fun and sometimes even cathartic to passionately hate a show or movie a lot. It reminds me that I still have a burning love for media and in this specific case, horror movies.
I think a good example of "stupid people in horror movies done well" is The Mist (2007). The characters all do stupid things and almost everyone reacts to the situation in a very silly way, but the movie is so entertaining!
A Quiet Place is just a miserable experience of lazy writing. That nail, man... And that's not even the worst offender.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-15 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)This nail isn't the worst, but it's so ridiculous it's easy to make fun of.
My most hated thing is their walking order in the start of the film. You don't need to be super smart or logical not to put your small child behind. Just being decent enough parent would do
Re: Is There a Series/Media That Gets You Instantly Angry?
(Anonymous) 2021-12-15 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)OH YEAH, the walking order! And the walking around without shoes and WITHOUT SOCKS. You even make less noise if you wear socks and you'll probably prevent a lot of infections protecting your feet with a little bit of cloth. AND bringing your very little uneducated (because of course, he's young) child around with you for a supply run. Just let him play with their siblings NEAR THE STREAM WHERE THEY COULD SCREAM!!! Or just let them stay at home, it's less risky. OMG Everything in that movie doesn't make sense. The parents were so so so stupid...
